When I was told that I needed to take this class I was not happy! That's a understatement, I was upset at every person who didn't share the programming requirements from the start. See am taking this class because I needed it to get into a education program at Trinity. The only way to ensure that I made it in this fall was if I took this course or pass the Tap test.
Well, I am learning that my plans will shift quickly when God plans are different. He knew that I needed to be in this class; so he slowed down the process and made me take this course. I have learned so much over just the pass few weeks. My writing was not bad, it just needed to be perfected. I work in ministry and leadership. How can I lead people if I can not honestly address them with my written communication. You are judged by others on how well you write and speak. It's was not a lot of checks and balances with my writing in the pass. I would write what needed to be said, but I never would read it over to make sure it was correct. My choice of words has changed, and I am more comfortable with my writing. This class has truly being great!
Norma,
ReplyDeleteI was also bummed that I had to take this course. I was bummed because I love writing, it’s an art form for me; how could I have messed up the writing sample? I came to the realization that I was so involved in the content; I did not proof read the writing sample with enough time to edit. Like you, I aspire to become a teacher, a special ed teacher to be more specific. Being a teacher, I know that I will have to write IEPs and communicate with parents via—written communication. Before entering this course, I considered the importance of not only writing IEPs (legal documents), but also editing children’s school work. u
You are absolutely right when you wrote about God’s plan, and slowing down the process for the benefit of the rest of our college careers. I believe everything happens for a reason, therefore, we’re all meant to be here together; experiencing this course.
Thanks for sharing!
Oh yes, I myself have learned so much from this class. Now I'm wondering why the other universities didn't not offered it. This should be a class everyone should start with before going into their major classes.
ReplyDeleteHi Norma,
ReplyDeleteI believe many people come into my course angry at first. No one likes to be told that their writing isn't what it should be for college level courses. You ladies are all wonderful, and I look forward to Monday evenings because I can see that you are all improving in your writing, which is so encouraging to me! Only three weeks left--can you believe it? I'm going to be sorry to see you and your classmates move on!
